5 Minutes

I'm just having 5 minutes as we say. Time to do.......the washing, mopping the floor and other chores but instead I am just sitting and letting things get on, on their own. It's important for us all to take 5 minutes at least on our own for time to reflect or simply daydream. Time alone with yourself gives opportunity to recharge those tired batteries and also to make space in your all so busy mind. Time for the files to slot into place. Think for a few minutes when was the last time you just took time for yourself?  I find it is a long time ago for me as I always use the sitting still time to catch up on emails or update the website. Even now I am working on my blog. Time to practice what I preach!

I have 50 minutes free before need to put the tea on. so excuse me while I take 50 minutes to myself.

Day 5 of the Detox week

Today we are looking at apple cider vinegar. This is an age old remedy for getting rid of toxins, it also works to regulate the gut's 'flora' that is often talked about. I used this in conjunction with epsom salts to get rid of my arthritis. As mentioned before it works to regulate the natural digestive enzymes in the gut so it can function at it's best. when your gut is working well there is no chance for uric acid to build up around your body attaching to weekend areas such as joints. On this weeks food hospital, the channel 4 programme, a guy was suffering from gout. He had growths  on his knees and his elbows.
Apple cider vinegar would help to remove these uric acid lumps. These areas of uric acid break down gradually leaving the sufferer to have an increase in pain initially as the calcified lumps break of as you would get if you crumbled any porous rock with jagged edges. This is why the pain feels worse before it gets better.  But, get better it does with patience.
On my website I have put all the details you need about apple cider vinegar and epsom salts. Please feel free to copy, paste and print off for your personal use, the link is here. Detox info'

Google apple cider vinegar and epsom salts I am sure you will find much more information online.

Detox day 4 Epsom salts

Today I am going to introduce epsom salts. It is sold in most chemists as something to ingest in order to move stubborn bowels. Oh my does it shift them. I am not recommending this approach at all I am suggesting yo use them as a bath salts or a foot soak. It is wonderful for those who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis as it help dissolve the uric acid build up that makes joints so painful.
If you suffer from bunions you can wave good bye to those using epsom salts. a handful in a foot bath leaving your feet to soak for 1/2 an hour not only makes your feet feel gorgeous, it also helps to start the breakdown of crystals around a bunion or to soak uric acid out of your system.

I have 2 information sheets that explain the use for general help or more specifically bunions for you to print off. Just email me at sue.burgess2@btinternet.com and I will mail you all the details you need.

Tomorrow we will look at Apple cider vinegar......YUM!!!!

Detox day 3

I watched a channel 4 programme called the Food Hospital last night, they were discussing the effectiveness of detox diets. In a nut shell they say they don't really do much because your body has resources that do the job anyway. I must agree with them, where drastic detoxing such as the 'cabbage diet'  is something I wouldn't recommend, the basics of helping your body by avoiding excess of drink, drugs (recreational) and food will enable your body to function without the need for major detoxes. Any drastic change in your diet should be discussed with a health professional.
As I have mentioned in previous blogs water intake and herbal teas that are gentle on your liver and also enable it to function easier are a simple and sensible way to look at detoxing.

Today I am looking at  Dr Udo's oils and supplements. Have a look at the site here  http://udoerasmus.com/
for information about the blend and how it would help you.

We all have had days when we have overindulged and feel sluggish and bloated, usually these days are few, but if you feel like this most of the time it is a sign that you need to look at your diet. A qualified dietitian would help you find out what your body doesn't like and, you can gain access to one via your Doctor.

During my training to become a Bowen practitioner we were told to encourage our clients to use the blend to help their gut function better. Any complementary therapy can be far more effective if the basics are sorted. A healthy gut and bladder are the foundations of a healthy body.

Tomorrow I will be looking at how epsom salts can help with arthritis and how it can help with other health issues.

Detox teas

So, how are we doing with the water? Keep on with a drink each time you pop the kettle on, you'll soon get into the swing of it.
Second day into detox and we are going to introduce tea. There are many specialist teas on the market shelf so you need to try a few until you get one you love. Twinnings have a detox tea in bags, but other companies have their own range. The difference with 'herbal' teas is that they need to 'mash' longer than other tea bags. No quick swish around with the  tea bag, they need to sit on boiling water anything from 2-5 minutes depending on the make.
Sometimes a nice after dinner teas can help aid your digestion and thus helping detox. I have just stumbled upon one by 'pukka' teas is called simply 'after dinner'. It contains organic fennel, chicory and cardamom tea. This will help if you feel a little bloated after a meal.  For those who suffer from indigestion try a peppermint or one with ginger in, both aid digestion.
So, try a few teas and see which ones work for you.

Detox week

So, I don't know about you but I need to get in shape ready to tackle the Christmas binge!
All this week I will be posting information on different methods of detoxing.
Today I will start with the easiest of all detoxes.....drinking water.
It's a simple request I ask of all my clients is to drink more water, though their reactions are usually as though I have asked them to drink poison.
No it doesn't taste dreadful, not when you get used to it and, I am not asking you to drown yourself in it either.
When you go to pop the kettle on, whilst yo wait for it to boil drink a small glass of water. This method of introducing water is simple and very effective. Keep a glass next to the kettle to remind you. now, calculate how many cups of tea/coffee you drink in a day and there you can see how much your water consumption has grown over night. I'm asking you to drink 2 liters a day just a small glass several times a day. It's easy!

It won't be long before you see the difference in you skin and hair, and even aches and pains can be helped by simply consuming more water. Tap water is good as anything it's paid for by your water rates so make use of that huge bill you get each year. I drink only tap water and it suits me fine. Some water tastes better than others but your palette will soon adjust.
So there's only one thing to do now.......put the kettle on!

Soul food

So, we are back home after a trip to Brussels with friends. I feel full up with adventure of exploring a new city, good food, drink and knowing I have such loving friends who fill my soul with joy. Keeping healthy is not just enjoying therapies and eating well, it's important to have balance in your life and spend time with those you love and who love you.

A trip away takes you out of the rat run that working hard can become. We always have an excuse, too tired, can't take time away from work plus many more that you can think of that you use day after day. Times are hard financially and with that brings extra stress so we have to look for things to do that are manageable.
I know it's cold but a stroll outside and a pint at a nice pub can be all you need for a pick me up.

Take time tonight with a warming cuppa, no TV on and just enjoy a silent moment planning a simple break away from the norm'. Then phone your friends and share you plans and get them on board. It will soon be the weekend and a couple of hours with friends and fresh air can act as a wonderful medicine for the soul.
So kettle on and plan.
